Starburst or Sunburst Clocks – Whatever Makes Me Happy…

Tuesday 12 August 2014

Hello, My name is Natalie and I’m a Mid Century decor junky. I can spend an hour plus lurking at Etsy, or Ebay for the “right item”, waiting for “the one”. But because these items (Originals, in a good condition) can get really pricey, especially when calculated with shipping costs - It could end up without actually buying anything. Well, It happens A LOT.

One Item that really makes my heart miss a bit (like mid-century planters - another love!), is the Starburst clock, (aka Sunburst clock). Due to a variety of designers and styles, this clock can come in so many different shapes, materials and colors, you can easily get lost and confused. But as an amateur collector, I can follow my heart without getting too much knowledgeable in the field. That can help me even find a good bargain for something other people could consider not worthy enough.

A few days ago I placed a bid on one of these charmers and for my total surprise, It was accepted. So, until I will get my first Sunburst / Starburst mid century wall clock ever - meet my favorites:

Designers and manufacturers:
1.United Clock Company 2.George Nelson 3.Snider 4.Seth Thomas 5+6.Welby Clock Co.

The only thing I don’t like about these clocks is the cord thing. because it’s weird to use a clock that works on electricity.

And finally, guess who's coming home? Well, I kinda accidently bought my first starburst clock. How? I placed a bid on ebay, believing someone else will run me over with a higher bid – but there was no one bidding on this clock, except me - so I won! Meet my new, probably 50 year old clock, with atomic elements, Starburst clock - United, Model 79:
